School-Connect Institutes

Normally School-Connect Summer Institutes are hosted at locations across the country, but this summer all institutes will be facilitated through Zoom videoconferencing events.

Our online Summer Institute offers much of the same information and interaction as our in- person Institutes. Facilitator Keeth Matheny has been leading online trainings frequently since COVID-19 school closures. Keeth has a great way of bringing online trainings to life with interactive discussions, breakout groups and time for self-reflection and application. Online Institutes have the advantage of being accessible to all communities and less expensive than an in-person Institute.

The School-Connect Institute directly prepares participants to implement School-Connect in their classrooms and provide staff training in their school or district. This year’s institutes will include training on the new SEL Integration Guide.

This engaging training provides an overview of social and emotional learning (SEL); curriculum concepts, strategies and implementation options; practice in facilitating student-driven discussions and engagement strategies; and links to academic motivation and skills.

Participants consistently rate this interactive training highly and say it increases their confidence, enthusiasm, and commitment to SEL and academic success for their students. School-Connect recommends that school teams attend to better facilitate implementation in their school or district.
